Hair Loss: A Slow Metabolism Could Be to Blame

Do you feel like your hair is falling out more than usual lately? Maybe you've tried all kinds of shampoos, treatments and even supplements, but nothing seems to work. What you may not know is that hair loss can have a cause that often goes unnoticed: a slow and overexcited metabolism.

To improve your metabolism you need to first understand what is going on, so that you can speed up your metabolism and calm your excited metabolism with different natural aids.

Excessive hair loss is a problem that affects many, many people, and although we tend to attribute it to factors such as frequent stress or anxiety, genetics or seasonal changes, it is key not to forget that the metabolism plays a crucial role in our hair health. A metabolism that is not functioning optimally due to an over-excited metabolism can cause a number of symptoms, including hair loss.

One of the reasons behind this phenomenon is hypothyroidism, a condition in which the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormones.

Excessive hair loss is a problem that affects many, many people, and although we tend to attribute it to factors such as frequent moments of stress or anxiety, genetics or seasonal changes, it is key not to forget that metabolism plays a crucial role in our hair health.

A metabolism that is not functioning optimally due to an over-excited metabolism can cause a number of symptoms, including hair loss.

One of the reasons behind this phenomenon is hypothyroidism, a condition in which the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormones.

These hormones are responsible for keeping the metabolism active, and when there are not enough of them, the body tends to slow down, which can be reflected in a slow metabolism and, therefore, in problems such as hair loss.

However, there are many people who, despite not having an official diagnosis of hypothyroidism because laboratory tests do not detect it, present quite similar symptoms. This phenomenon is known as subclinical hypothyroidism and, although we always recommend visiting your doctor, you can also start listening to your body that is already giving you signs that something is not working as it should.

Some of the most common symptoms of subclinical hypothyroidism explained by specialist Frank Suarez in the book El Poder Del Metabolismo are:

    • Sluggish bowel motility, which can lead to digestive discomfort*.

    • Constant cold sensation in hands and feet, even when it is not so cold*.

    • A weakened immune system, which makes you more prone to getting sick*.

    • Difficulty losing weight, even if you try hard with dieting and exercise*.

    • Digestive problems such as gas, bloating and fluid retention*.

While these symptoms may seem general, they are often a clear sign that your body is asking for attention, and your metabolism may need a little boost to get back in balance.

How exactly does metabolism affect hair growth?

Imagine that your hair is like a delicate plant that requires certain care to flourish vigorously. Just as a plant needs oxygen, water and nutrients to grow healthy, your hair also depends on an active metabolism to receive these essential nutrients. If your metabolism is running slow, it takes longer for nutrients to reach the scalp, which weakens hair follicles and eventually leads to hair loss.

To combat this problem and give your mane what it really needs, it's important to start from the inside. Improving your diet is a key first step, making sure to include foods rich in vitamins and minerals. Staying well hydrated is also critical, as water is essential for the health of every cell, including your hair. In addition, proper vitamin supplementation with excellent B-complex vitamins could be good for your thyroid.

An extra tip to start improving your thyroid is to keep your metabolism from getting overexcited, so by taking deep breaths and adding some delicious essential oil scents, you can calm your metabolism.

In short, a well-activated and nourished metabolism not only improves your overall well-being, but is also the key to strong, shiny, healthy hair.
